My simple bolero

Finally.......this is done. In fact it was finished on last Sunday night but I unravelled the border and re-knit it again last night. Initially I done the border with few lines of light blue, same as the sleeves border but Hubby doesn't like how it's turn out. He commented that the bolero look like a Manga (Japanese cartoon) heroin's outfit and I look funny on it. Well, it did look odd with those few lines of light blue. No choice, I re-knit it with just the same colour as the ribbings and it turn out better.

Dog's fashion

I bought two dog's outfit pattern books some times ago, some of the patterns are really cute, especially those small t-shirt that have cute prints on it. Although with such a simple dog's t-shirt, it's just that cute when wore on small breed dog. Too bad that I don't have any home's pet, but sister does. She got a male Tse Su, "Poppy" and she would like him to have new clothings such as in the book.

Most of the patterns in the books required t-shirt materials and modifying from old garments. Sister gots lots of old unwearable t-shirt and they're just nice to be modified to Poppy's clothes. I'll be doing them when I'm not tide with my other projects and these are some of the patterns that I'll be doing.

Sister belated birthday gifts

Sister's birthday was due on last month and I still owe her the gift that I suppose to do for her. I'm knitting her a scraf and a bag. I've started both of the project last weekend, the bag's body already half way done and 20% done for the scraf. I don't want to delay and have been working mostly on these projects recently so that I can get them done quickier. Hopefully I could finish them by this end of month. ******cross my finger******

I join Wardrobe refashion 06

I've joined the along group of "The wardrobe refashion 06" and here's the pledge :

The Wardrobe Refashion Pledge
I Vivian, pledge that I shall abstain from the purchase of "new" manufactured items of clothing, for the period of 4 months.

I Pledge that I shall refashion, renovate, recylcle pre-loved items for myself for the term of my contract.

I Pledge that I shall create and craft items of clothing for myself with my own hands in fabric, yarn or other medium for the term of my contract.

I Pledge that I will share the love and post a photo of my refashioned, renovoated, recylcled, crafted or created item of clothing on the Wardrobe Refashion blog, so that others may share the joy that thy thriftyness brings!

So...I'm on my way to start for this refashion and renovate wardrobe stuffs and pretty excited about it cause I got lots of garments that need to be reconstruct and I already have some ideas how I would do them. Guess I'll need to have a project plan on it for easy work on.

Almost a bolero

All the pieces of simple bolero has been finished during the weekend. Now it's the time to block all of them before the ribbings is to set in. As all the pieces curl up very badly, I decided to use wet block method and hopefully it will be flatten and more easier for me to do the finishing later. Guess I might be finished the whole bolero by this weekend, hopefully......cross my finger.
As this project is coming to an end, I'm searching new project to cast on. I'll be using one of the recycled yarn that I obtained from a sweater that I bought from thrift shop and most properly I'll make a top from it. No particular project in mind yet, still searching for the right one. Will show more details once I got the pattern choose.
And I found this great along site called Wardrobe Refashion 06 which is hosted by Nichola and Racheal. This is such a great site for people that wanted to recycle, reconstruct and refashion of the garments etc. And a great site to share and show creativity in crafts. So coincidently I'm in the progress to reconstruct some of my wardrobe and this the just the right time. I've send in my details to them and hopefully they will accept me as member. Drop by the blog, I'm sure you will be amazed. :)

It curls up very badly

I've finished the back piece and both sleeves of the simple bolero. Take a look at the back piece, it's just madly curling up at all ends. Guess a heavy blocking will be required. Ohh...my.....hopefully it will not be a tedius and hard work to do. I guess you must have been notice a more thicker and different colour of yarn on the sleeve border that I've done in the picture. Yes, I'm using other type of yarn for the ribbing border just in case the quantities of yarn that I have won't be enough for the whole finished bolero. Hopefully both of the yarns will match with each other. This is quite a relex and fast knit and I'm now working on the right front piece. Maybe it can be finished by next week and I could show a FO then.

Reconstruct my wardrobe # 1

Nothing much was done on knitting, just being layback and progressing very slowly on my current knitting projects. In fact I did try to do some sewing, not on new projects but just to reconstruct some old garments that I have and couldn't be fitted in now. It's such a waste and space consuming for just keeping them all in my wardrobe. So, I digged them all out and modified them to larger size or into other patterns. It's fun to reconstruct old garments and I really enjoy it. :)

Attempt # 1 :
Plain V neck long sleeve pullover to sparkling 3/4 sleeve chic top. What I have done on it was, I attached some pink and transparent sequins around it's neck line and scattered them front of the top. Cut off the sleeves and folded it up to make it 3/4 length. The outcome : A chic and sparkling top.

I still got few more reconstruction that still under progress, will show more once I got them done.

What's doing?

A pictureless post, it's just updates on what I'm doing currently. The weather does not permit me to take any pictures recently, it's just keep on raining on the time I was home after works. Hopefully I could take some pictures this weekend to show.

1) Simple Bolero
Well, the back of the simple bolero is almost done. I already passed the neckline, now is working on the shoulder shaping and I guess it'll be finished by this weekend. I already used up 1 & 1/2 ball of the yarns on just the back portion, I doubt the quantities of yarns that I have would not be enough for this bolero. Anyway, hopefully the sleeves would not eat up so much of yarns.

2) 70's vintage top
Not much progress on this project. I started getting bored of it. However, I'll still continue to knit it, just it'll be in very slow progress. I've finished the back and done 40% on the front.

3) Sister's belated birthday gifts
Planning to knit a scraf for her. Well, I might using this free pattern from Jorth : Ruffles scraf on this project using the mohair left over from previous projects. Another gift that I'm planning to do for her is a knit bag using the 2 balls of novalty Lana Grossa yarns. I almost done with the body of the bag and will work on the handle once I got the right fabric. The size and pattern of this bag will be the same as the cable bag that I did before. Not in cable pattern but just in plain garter stitches.

4) Reconstuction of garments
I'm trying to reconstruct some of my unwearable garments. Those garments are either too small to fit into me or they're kind of out dated fashion. So far I've done 2 attempts on them. First is from a long skirt to knee length A-line skirt and second is from a plain long sleeve pullover to a sparkling 3/4 sleeve top. I'll tell more on them on my next update when I got their pictures snap.

That's all for the time being, will show some pictures and more updates later. ;)
